Item Description
One of the distinctions of the famous Himalaya Mine is that it not only produced superb gem quality Tourmalines dating back to the late 1800s, but you will also find species that are rarely seen in granitic pegmatites, like zeolites! Arguably the best-known zeolite from this locality is Stilbite, and this piece is an excellent example of these rare specimens. This piece is filled with well-formed, beige colored prismatic bladed crystals of Stilbite measuring up to about 5 mm, forming an attractive and three-dimensional display specimen. No major damage anywhere, and the piece is complete all around. No Himalaya suite is complete without a good Stilbite specimen, and this one is a beautiful and showy representation of these elusive classics. From the collection of Bill Larson of Fallbrook, California. Bill is a well-known gem and mineral dealer as well as a miner and collector. Bill is synonymous with minerals of San Diego County, and owned and operated famous mines such as the Stewart Lithia, the Tourmaline Queen, the Pala Chief and the Himalaya, producing some of the most iconic mineral specimens to come out of the area during the 1970s-1980s.
