Stilbite on Quartz Stalactites with Laumontite

Item Description

A HIGHLY SCULPTURAL combination of towering Chalcedony to tiny terminated Quartz crystals covered stalactites with lustrous peach colored Stilbites. These are then accented with a partial covering of sugary Quartz and a sprinkling of vitreous white Laumonite crystals. The contrasting pearlescent sword-shaped Stilbites jutting-out from the stalactites visually highlight the piece. The largest Stilbite at the top measures 5.3 cm by 2.6 cm wide. There are also interesting geometric features toward the base showing Quartz growth of a flat nature as if it were a cast formation coating a mineral that has since dissolved. The piece is in near pristine condition with only subtle wear on the softer Laumonite crystals; and a tiny chip of the Quartz on the lower right (which actually is interesting as it shows the radiating style of Quartz growth around the darker center of the stalactite). The translucent clear Quartz covered stalactites have a unique slate blue to light black hue from the initial unknown stalactitic material (probably calcite infused with some kid iof iron rich staining). Stalactitic drusy quartz is known from Jalgaon, but specimens are especially desirable in this superb aesthetic combination quality. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
