Stilbite on Fluorite ex Kidwell (old East Coast location)

This is an old-timer, collected at least several decades ago, of exceptionally nice Stilbite from this classic locality in Connecticut with an unusual Fluorite association. It makes for a competitive-quality miniature of stilbite, from the USA! Some great specimens were recovered from veins that transected the host rock during the relocation of the railroad at Thomaston Dam in the late 1950s and this piece is from that era. This handsome miniature features a lustrous, ivory colored, 3.1 cm long bowtie of Stilbite along with several other smaller, crystal fans of Stilbite in association. The Stilbite crystals are nicely perched on a contrasting purple and blue zoned, mostly complete Fluorite crystal. This is a very aesthetic and fine example of Stilbite (on Fluorite) from the US, and particularly from this locale! Al Kidwell's label indicates he purchased this piece from legendary dealer Ron Bentley in 1985. From the diverse and historic collection of one of the great field collectors and mineralogists of mid-1900s Texas, Albert Kidwell of Houston (1919-2008), after whom the mineral Kidwellite is named.
