Stilbite on Epidote (rare combo) (ex Tom Campbell Collection)

The Kayes Region of Mali is world famous for producing some superb specimens of Prehnite and Epidote. This piece is a very hard to find association specimen that features Stilbite (!) instead of Prehnite sitting on Epidote. The near "bow tie"-esque aggregate of Stilbite measures 4.3 cm across and is filled with thin bladed crystals that radiate from a central point while sitting atop very dark greenish-black, "sword"-shaped prismatic Epidote crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm on a thin layer of matrix. The Stilbite group is pristine all around, and the piece displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos.
