Stilbite on Drusy Quartz

Item Description

Several beautiful pearlescent Stilbite blades are perched on a starkly contrasting drusy Quartz coated charcoal-gray basalt matrix from the trap basalts of India. Four larger and several smaller snow-white grace this nicely composed piece and the larger crystals range in size from 2 to 4.3 cm in length and up to 2.5 cm in width. The two largest crystals are doubly terminated. All of the crystals on this piece are well isolated and really stand out on the darker, contrasting matrix. This piece is unusual too in that the Stilbite crystals are singles with only minor development of thickening due to tight subparallel stacking of the crystals. It's limited enough that many of the crystals are translucent to nearly transparent along their edges which is not common for Stilbite from India. This is a well composed piece with no damage!
