Item Description
Desmine is an old synonym for stilbite. This impressive, sculptural, elongated and pristine, 360-degree piece is from a well-known Nova Scotia locale in the basalt cliffs along the Bay of Fundy. A striking, large, 5.5 cm wide, tapered "bulb" of intergrown, pearlescent stilbite blades dominates the piece. The 6.0 long, doubly terminated bowtie on the "stalk" is an artistic compliment to the bulb. The label on the wood block base from the Huff Collection has a 1971 date. Very uncommon and excellent large older material from an East Coast collection.
