Item Description

Here we have a lovely Stilbite specimen from the famous Prospect Park Quarry in New Jersey. It hosts "sheaves" and "bow tie"-shaped groups of beautiful golden brown colored Stilbite with crystals measuring up to 4.4 cm long. With good backlighting, you can see that the crystals are translucent, which isn't always the case for New Jersey Stilbites. These specimens are highly prized by New Jersey collectors, and are becoming very difficult to obtain these days, especially since the quarry is now closed and will never produce this material again. From the collection of Richard Kosnar (1946-2007), the well-known dealer and collector who was born and raised in New Jersey and assembled a great collection of NJ trap rock minerals. Rich was also the namesake for the phosphate mineral Kosnarite.
