Item Description

A beautiful association specimen from the famous Jalgaon District featuring several sharp, lustrous, creamy peach colored bladed crystals of Stilbite-(Ca) measuring up to 4.2 cm sitting atop white Quartz (erroneously labeled as Calcite) stalactites. The Stilbite crystals are excellent quality and very aesthetically sitting atop the Quartz. The piece is in fine condition, as I don't see any major damage anywhere, and it's displayable from a few different angles. Keep in mind that the finest crystals of Stilbite in the world are found in the Deccan Trap of India, and they should be celebrated for their superior quality on a worldwide scale. Indian Zeolites (and associated species) may still be fairly common on the market, but you cannot deny the fact that they are colorful, attractive, highly displayable and several of them are the finest examples of their respective species extant ! From the collection of Chester ("Chet") S. Lemanski Jr. of Browns Mills, New Jersey (https://www.mindat.org/user-461.html). Collection #6419CL. Chet was born 1947 in started collecting minerals circa 1957. He worked briefly as a drill runner at the famous Sterling Mine, in Ogdensburg, New Jersey and from 1987 to 1990 he helped convert the mine into a public access mining museum. He has held the role of treasurer, vice president and president of the Franklin-Ogdensburg Mineralogical Society (FOMS), and has been a board member and vice president of the Franklin Mineral Museum. The rare copper arsenate, Lemanskiite was named in his honor in 1999.
