Item Description

A classic and eye-catching example of these historic Stilbites from the famed Berufjord in eastern Iceland. This piece is specifically from the Teigarhorn, which is referenced on mindat.org as, "One of the most famous zeolite locality {localities} in Iceland." The entire area is off-limits for collecting now, as it was declared a national monument in 1976, so it's been nearly 50 years since anything has been collected (though this piece is labeled as being collected in 1985 on a trip with Harvard University, so perhaps special permission was granted to collect it). This piece features a beautiful, bright white color, pearly group of "sheaf"-like crystals of Stilbite-Ca with a minor amount of attached matrix. No major damage and largely complete all around.
