Stilbite and Calcite on Chalcedony

Calcites from the gas pockets in the Indian basalt flows have always had a rather unique beauty. This 4.5 cm near-cube follows in that tradition - it is an attractive, slightly modified crystal with a silky luster that disguises just how gemmy this Calcite really is. Looking carefully, you can actually see the double refraction through it. Attached to it are several, highly lustrous, translucent to gemmy Stilbites that have a salmon-pink color, most notably in the core. The largest Stilbite is doubly-terminated and about 3.6 cm long. A very showy combination specimen from Jalgaon that is better in person. valued $450
