Item Description

Bright pink-lavender waxy crusts of Stichtite richly cover the dramatically contrasting sculptural green serpentine matrix on this rich and excellent specimen from the Type Locality in Tasmania. Stichtite is a rare hydrated magnesium, chromium carbonate associated with serpentinites. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1129 and acquired in the 1950s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A classic and colorful small cabinet combination of this rare species from the Type Locality.
