Item Description

Another old-time and uncommon combination specimen from this classic old locale. Spharosiderite, a rare botryoidal variety of siderite, but somewhat common from Baia Sprie, forms a dramatic cluster of stalactites and coats all sides of the diverging spray of metallic stibnite crystals on this striking old-timer. The translucent stalactites are yellowish-brown with other botryoids having a contrasting iron oxide coating. Undoubtedly old material, but no proof. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6671 and acquired from Pala Properties at the 1972 Anaheim Federation Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Showy and rare old combination material.
