Item Description

Stibnite typically forms in slender prismatic crystals, but the specimens from Băiuț in Romania (about 15 miles east of Cavnic) sometimes form in a rare broader, thicker crystal habit than we're used to seeing for the species. This piece is a great example of said material featuring fairly thick, wide, "sword"-shaped crystals of a dark steel-grey hue measuring up to about 1.3 cm, intergrown to form a very eye-catching small cabinet sized display specimen. No matrix on this piece, just a wonderful group of Stibnite crystals with an unusual habit. Most of the crystals are in very good condition, but I can see a few small imperfections here and there. A really cool piece for anybody interested in sulfides, Stibnites or minerals from Romania. Priced at $1,450 in our inventory. From the collection of Colin Manlove.
