Item Description

A very rare and showy old-time specimen from Romania. An attractive jackstraw cluster of hollow metallic stibnite pseudomorphs is aesthetically set on the sculptural gossan matrix covered with highly lustrous metallic botryoids of the same mineral, that pseudoed the stibnites. We believe this is goethite, which is very rare from any of the famous districts in Romania. The pseudos reach 2.5 cm. Undoubtably older material, but no proof. Possibly from Baia Mare. A fragment of a cloth label is noted on the back. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection.
