Item Description

Splendent , sparkling, metallic densely intergrown diverging sprays of stibnite blades form an impressive, sculptural arborescent 360-degree small cabinet from the well-known San Martin Mine of Zacatecas. Stibnite of this style is a signature species from this historic very rich Ag-polymetallic mine, where mining started in about 1555. Ex Bill Panczner Collection and acquired in the 1960s to perhaps the 1980s. It is a SIGNIFICANT specimen for stibnite, from Mexico, and highly valued in context of what is important for minerals of this country. Bill was the first Curator of Earth Science at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum in 1974 and the author of the 1987 book Minerals of Mexico. It is the most thorough summary of the subject. Read about Bill in the Mineralogical Record Biographical Archive at: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=841. Classic, choice and very rich material from the locale. Valued $1200-1500
