Item Description

The Herja Mine in Romania is one the premier localities for Stibnite. For over 100 years, this mine has been producing world-class specimens, and this piece dates back a few decades. It's a rare style for the material as the "sprays" of beautiful, metallic, silvery-grey crystals are sitting on dark grey-black micro Quartz crystals with a beautiful sparkling iridescence on the surface. I can't remember seeing another piece quite like this from the Herja Mine, though I'm sure others exist. The Quartz association is not rare, but the iridescence is certainly hard to find. The Stibnite crystals measure up to 2.7 cm long, and they even have a slight iridescence themselves. A very pretty miniature specimen of this beloved material.
