Item Description
A wonderful "spray" of Stibnite from the White Caps Mine in Nevada, which is the best known locality for the species in the United States. This specimen features several sharp, lustrous, metallic silvery colored prisms with many small terminations on each end. This is a slightly different style than most Stibnites from this mine as the crystals are heavily striated, not the typical smooth broad prism faces. This piece is at least 60 years old as the White Caps Mine stopped producing specimens in 1958 after opening in 1865. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#868) with a label from Scott Williams. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
