Item Description
This impressive specimen is a big, dramatic and showy display piece of these beautiful, fine quality Stibnites from the Xikuangshan Sb deposit featuring multiple of prismatic, striated, highly lustrous, metallic, bright silvery colored crystals, which are partially coated by light beige colored Dolomite on one side, free of matrix. The largest individual Stibnite is hard to isolate, but I could measure to the base of the one crystal at 10.2 cm long. A few of the crystals show a slightly "bent" habit, which is not unheard of for Stibnite, but it's one of the few minerals that forms crystals with this particular style of growth. It's a wonderful three-dimensional piece, with VERY little damage, which is important to note for this material (especially a LARGE CABINET sized piece like this), as they're often badly damaged. These pieces were mined over a decade ago, and nothing has come out since, so if you missed out on them when they were fresh out of the ground, don't miss out on a chance to get a good quality example from this premier Stibnite locality.
Valued $6,000.
