Item Description

The White Caps Mine of Nevada is well-known as the source of the finest stibnite found in North America. This very fine and sturdy, dramatic, sculptural, three-sided jackstraw jumble, features brilliant silver-metallic crystals to about 3.4 cm with a gorgeous light iridescence. Specimens of this size, richness and quality are rarely available and are highly desired. The mine produced intermittently from 1865 to about 1958. Periphery wear and contacting are noted, but is of minor consequence to this rare and very rich three-sided specimen. Ex University of Arizona Collections. The clear acetate label indicates the specimen was on public display in the mineral museum there. Valued at $1000 and worth it.
