Stibnite (ex Tom Campbell Collection)

Typically, the Salvadora (Socavon) Stibnite crystals are very thin elongated prisms, but this piece features several crystals which are notably thicker than anything I've seen from this famous old mine. My guess is that the piece is probably at least 50-60 years old, and could easily date back further. The crystals on this specimen are highly lustrous, sharp and brilliant with a deep metallic silvery hue free of matrix. The main crystals are all in good shape, but there is a bit of roughness here and there. The reverse side of the specimen features micro sparkling Quartz crystals. Very hard to find on the market, especially with broad crystals like this. Valued at $500. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell.
