Stibnite (classic locale)

Item Description

A sculptural and unusual two-sided stibnite small cabinet from the historic polymetallic mines at Baia Sprie. One side is composed of striking, classic diverging sprays of splendent dark metallic-gray stibnite needles. The other side has a striking ghostly look, as the diverging sprays have a preferential overgrowth of either antimony oxides (probably stibiconite) or clay. Fascinating, uncommon and artistic two-sided stibnite from an East Coast collection. Probably old-time material with the Felsobanya label, but no proof.
