Item Description

Freiberg is one of the most famous silver producing districts in the history of minerals. Stephanite was named after noted mining engineer and mineral collector, Archduke Stephan Franz Victor von Habsburg-Lothringen. This reference thumbnail shows small crystals of metallic silvery Stephanite with minor grey-black Freibergite on matrix. Good specimens of Stephanite from Freiberg are hard to find on the market these days. Ex Paolo Matioli Collection.
