Item Description

The famous Chispas Mine of Sonora, Mexico has produced some of Mexico's and the world's best silver-related species. This rich and rare combination miniature features a bed of blocky, matte luster stephanite crystals nestled in a forest of frosted quartz points. Specimens of this quality were produced over 100 years ago, from the 1880s to about 1910. However, we have no proof that this piece was collected in that era. Periphery wear is noted, but has no impact to the significance of this rare and excellent combination piece. This well-known Mexican locale is the subject of a fine article in the Mineralogical Record, Vol. 39, #6, November-December, 2008. Very rare on the market. valued $1500
