Item Description
An exceptionally rare, rich and and outstanding combination specimen from this classic Erzgebirge locale - the Sauberg Mine at Ehrenfriedersdorf. Splendent, metallic-silver, prismatic stephanite crystals to 5 mm richly cover one side of the mounded specimen of sharp, color-zoned fluorite cubes. Grape-purple phantoms surround the beautiful, golden-amber cores. The moderately lustrous faces have a matte-finish and the crystals are up to 9 mm. The impressive stephanite display face is pristine, with periphery wear noted on the fluorite side. The backlit photo really shows the glorious golden-amber color. Perhaps it was collected in the Soviet era, but could be much older. This mine closed in 1990. Try to find another of this combination richness and quality - we have not seen any! This seems a surprising specimen. Valued at $1500. ex Bob Whitmore collection
