Item Description

This piece dates back to a single find in 2013. This discovery produced what are the finest known example of Stephanite from the famous Porco Mine in Bolivia. This historic silver producer is literally the oldest important silver mine in Bolivia, which is saying something since we know the Spanish were mining there around 500 years ago, and the native people were certainly mining for many years prior to that. This specimen honestly made me think of the great old Stephanites from Mexico in terms of its superior quality. This is a wonderful thumbnail specimen piece with excellent crystal form along with the bright silvery metallic luster. The complex modified habit of some of the crystals along with the general thickness make it a very attractive and valuable specimen. The gentle balance of narrow striations and metallic faces create a fantastic display piece. A very good example of this very limited material, which has not been found again. Valued at $900 in the inventory.
