Staurolite with Garnet (ex Al Kidwell Collection)

These old Staurolites are virtually impossible to find on the market today. I haven't seen one in years, and this particular piece is a good example of this elusive material. The piece hosts sharp, well-formed, blocky, dark reddish-brown colored crystal of Staurolite measuring up to 1.3 cm, sitting on schist matrix. If you look closely, you'll see some tiny reddish-pink colored dodecahedral crystals of Garnet (presumably Almandine or Pyrope) sprinkled here and there.
