Item Description
Mineral specimens of ANY species are RARE from this obscure Tennessee locality - the Copperhill Mine. This is a very RARE, large, crudely euhedral, reddish-brown, classic pseudo-orthorhombic staurolite crystal. Embedded muscovite schist adds sparkle and contrast to this complete all-around crystal. Staurolite is listed by MINDAT for the locale, but there are NO examples in the locality photo gallery. Ex John Whatley Collection, a well-known Georgia collector (1939-2022) and acquired via a swap from Mike Corrigan in 1977. Rare, perhaps unique staurolite from the locale. A MUST for the species or locality collector.
