Staurolite (incredibly sharp ''cross'' twin) (ex Hauck Collection)

Staurolite is probably best known for forming beautiful "cross"-shaped twin, and this piece is a superb example of said material. Most Staurolite twins you'll see from famous localities like Pestsovye Keivy in Russia or Fânzeres in Portugal can be somewhat crude and rounded, but this particular specimen is incredibly sharp and wonderfully well-formed with textbook twinning from Cherokee Co., North Carolina. The piece is a complete "floater", totally crystallized all around. The specimen shows a beautiful antique bronze color on the surface. A must have for any fan of twinned crystals or display quality thumbnails or fine pieces from the United States. From the collection of Richard (Dick) Hauck.
