Item Description
A classic oblique moderately lustrous 60-degree twinned staurolite "cross" from Australia. The sharp 360-degree pseudo-orthorhombic grayish-brown crystal is essentially pristine. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 12886. MINDAT does not list staurolite from the Mount Isa Mines. The piece is undoubtely from Cattle Creek. Specimens of this quality are seldom on the market. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record).
