"Star" Muscovite (ex David Burgess Collection)

A really attractive and eye-catching large cabinet display specimen of beautiful "Star" Muscovite Mica from the Jenipapo. These specimens are some of the most distinctive and eye-catching pieces of Mica from any locality for their wonderful morphology. This particular piece has a wonderful coverage of eye-catching golden-yellow color, incredibly well-formed, star shaped twinned crystals of Muscovite on white Albiter matrix. Now this piece does have some damage in areas, so it's not 100% pristine, but it's loaded with crystals, and it's still very showy. The largest "star" measures about 3.8 cm across, but it's not easy to isolate them as they are somewhat tighly intergrown. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
