"Star" Muscovite

This is surely the most sculptural, aesthetic and colorful large example of the so-called "star mica" we have offered at auction. These occasionally come from here and are named for its complex habit which makes the individual crystals, when they stand out, look like little stars. This striking piece looks just like a "butterfly" and I really like the way the largest and more isolated "star" is dramatically perched at the top of the centerline. Nice straw-yellow color with high luster against the contrasting albite matrix on this striking piece. The bit of bruising, mostly to the albite, is certainly a modest detraction to this showy and excellent piece.
