Stannite on doubly-terminated Quartz

Item Description

The Yaogangxian Mine going back to the 1990s started producing a good number of fine quality crystallized mineral specimens. It is certainly one of the great mineral localities in China. This small cabinet piece features several many sharp, rather lustrous, brassy metallic crystals of Stannite measuring up to 7 mm, sitting atop a gemmy white/colorless, doubly-terminated Quartz crystal. A tiny bit of light golden colored Muscovite is also visible in a few spots. These specimens are among the finest crystallized examples of Stannite ever found, and you almost never see crystals on such good sized, well-formed Quartz matrix like this. Very few have been found in recent years, and the best ones came out in the early 2000s.
