Item Description
A RARE, spectacular specimen of stalactitic smithsonite, featuring highly lustrous and translucent, sea-green "fingers" with lavender overtones in a very sculptural array. Touissit is known more for its azurites and cerussites than for its smithsonites, but it ONCE turned out these really fine ones, in the green tones of color. They are, when they turn up on the market todya, almost certainly mistaken for and sold (for more money) as Tsumeb green smithsonites. However, I know somebody who was present when these came out in the late 1980s and reassured me this unique style is indeed from Toussit. I have been on the lookout ever since and seen 3 of them in 20 years, only. so you could say safely these are RARELY available in this quality! Ex Dave Stoudt Collection and valued at $1800. by the way, its MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
