This is NOT the typical specimen of kunzite or triphane single crystals from Afghanistan, but rather a balanced cluster of two unusually sharp spodumene crystals grown side by side, with a swirl of pastel colors that is hard to convey in a photo. The piece is hefty at 711 grams and really fills a hand, and its presence is not so much about color or size but about the "two towers" aesthetic of these exceptionally sharp, transparent crystals. The color is pastel yellow-green with hints of pinks. They are REALLY sharp, both the edges and the terminations, in a way that is unusual for the species. The front faces are glassy, totally like windowpanes to look inside. The top edges of the terminations are slightly frosted, which makes them look even sharper, and contrast to the glassy vertical, front and side faces. On that matter, since it is complete 360 degrees around, all faces are good. This is, again, just unusual for an example of an Afghanistani spodumene as a natural geometric sculpture, whereas most others are valued simply for the color. No repairs. No damage. No restorations. It is a piece worthy of sitting on a shelf of major gem crystals, as the unusual color and sharp gemmy shapes draw in the eye. Valued $5000-7500. Note, in contrast to most spodumenes with some pink color, this one has hints of pink mixed in, when well lit, but not a strong hot pink tone.
