Item Description

Some of the finest crystallized examples of gem quality Spodumene are those from Afghanistan. This aesthetic three-dimensional specimen features a group of very soft green colored, sharp, prismatic, gemmy "sword"-shaped crystals of Triphane Spodumene which are aesthetically flaring out of sharp, lustrous, translucent, softly colored Smoky Quartz crystals. Now the Triphane crystals measure up to 4.8 cm, but only 2.5 cm of the crystals are sitting above the Smoky Quartz - you can see the rest of the crystals on the back of the specimen. The Spodumenes are in great condition and complete all the way around. You don't see a lot of these crystals specimens on matrix from any locality in the world, and the fact that they are euhedral and not etched makes all the difference. Very attractive and certainly worth owning if you're a fan of gem crystals, aesthetic matrix pieces or minerals from Afghanistan. The piece comes with a label from Fred Parker that refers to it as "Hiddenite", but this is not accurate as the color isn't correct for what it is. We had this one priced at $1,200 in our inventory.
