Item Description
A classic old-time crystal of gemmy Triphane from the Urucum Mine in Brazil. The piece is a highly etched, "floater" crystal with a unique sculptural appearance. The piece has a light greenish-yellow color, with good gem clarity. The crystal is technically doubly-terminated (multi-terminated) if you look closely, and it's crystallized on all sides. Weight is 17.76 grams. Most of the Spodumenes from Urucum are purple/pink (Kunzite), but a small amount of crystals show this greenish-yellow hue. The piece was collected in the early 1970s.
From the collection of world famous mineral dealer Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), who was the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite, and had a strong presence in Brazil in the 1970s when he imported many gem crystals during that period.
