Item Description
A classic old-time crystal of gem Kunzite from the Urucum Mine in Brazil. The piece is a complete "floater" with a great mixture of highly etched forms, along with some well-defined crystal faces, including some attractive triangular termination faces on the front. The piece has a rich pinkish-purple color, with good gem clarity. The crystal is technically doubly-terminated (multi-terminated), and crystallized on all side. Weight is 58.78 grams. I’m surprised that it survived the Brazilian gem cutting shops back in the day as pieces like this were immediately destroyed and cut into gemstones.
From the collection of world famous mineral dealer Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), who was the namesake for the phosphate Kosnarite, and had a strong presence in Brazil in the 1970s when he imported many gem crystals during that period. Valued $1,500.
