Item Description
Here we have a wonderful, classic specimen of the world-famous Kunzite crystals from Afghanistan. This piece is a sharp, well-formed, broad "sword"-shaped, gemmy, tabular prismatic crystals with a pinkish-purple color and good internal gemminess/translucency. The piece is in good shape overall, though the upper corner has a small contact. Some attached grey Feldspar can be seen on the front of the piece. The bottom of the crystal appears to be somewhat re-crystallized ("re-healed") where it detached from the pocket wall. The crystal has a lighter color when viewed on the "a" axis, but When viewed down the "c" axis, one can see that the color is more intense. This is due to the fact that Spodumene is pleochroic, so the color is almost always appear stronger when viewed down the "c" axis. Good crystallized Kunzites are only found in a few places on earth and Afghanistan is only place that produces them with any frequency these days. Weight is 140.95 grams.
