Item Description

Spodumene is a well-known mineral thanks to various pegmatites around the world, namely those in San Diego County, California along with Minas Gerais, Brazil and Kunar & Nuristan in Afghanistan. Some of the finest example of gem quality Spodumene are those from Afghanistan. This piece is a beautiful, very sharp, gemmy, lustrous, striated, beautifully etched, multi-terminated, soft pinkish-lilac colored Kunzite crystal, with no point of attachment, making it a complete "floater". The crystal has excellent luster all around (no "dusty" faces) and the graceful hydrothermal etching gives it an almost ethereal appearance. There are dozens of attractive "teeth"-like terminations on one side of the piece, which I consider to be the "top" of the specimen. When you look down the "c" axis, you can see a slightly richer color than when you look at the piece through the "a" axis. Specimen weight is 171.8 grams. Valued at $2,000. Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
