Item Description
Photos do NOT do justice to this nearly 9-inch crystal. Of really pleasant green spodumene. It is not pale, as so many. Not only is the crystal alrge, gemmy, and complete?but it has superb terminations of a quality and sharpness rarely seen in this species. Large crystals of spodumene from here tend to etch out and dissolve in solution a bit after forming. Crystals of this size with such sharpness retained, are rare. The piece is very aesthetic in part because the crystal leaps up from a single white crystal of feldpsar at its base. Although rough on the bottom, the hanging lower termination of the spodumene is technically complete and terminated, just not as well as the top one is. Overall this is a large, VERY impressive specimen. We have all seen many come out of Afghanistan in the past decade or so, but not too many like this. I was lucky to get it at the source and clean it on our end. This was mined early in 2009. Valued $5000-7500 range, easily.
