Spodumene (highly etched ''floater'' crystal)

Item Description

Some of the finest example of gem quality Spodumene are those from the various pegmatites in Afghanistan. This piece is a beautiful, doubly-terminated (multi-terminated) soft greenish-yellow Spodumene crystal, with no point of attachment, making it a complete "floater". The crystal has excellent luster all around (no "dusty" faces) and the graceful hydrothermal etching gives it an almost ethereal appearance. I can't find any damage, and it's even gemmy in areas when backlit. I love the hollow opening in the center of the piece, where you can see straight through the crystal. Specimen weight is 51.69 grams.
