Item Description
Some of the finest example of gem quality Spodumene are those from the various pegmatites in Afghanistan. This piece is a beautiful, doubly-terminated (multi-terminated) soft greenish-yellow Spodumene crystal, with no point of attachment, making it a complete "floater". The crystal has excellent luster all around (no "dusty" faces) and the graceful hydrothermal etching creates unique forms and small hollow opening, that gives it an almost ethereal appearance. I can't find any damage, and it's even gemmy in areas when backlit. If you look closely, there is a small Smoky Quartz crystal hanging off the side of the piece, and one of the hollow openings has a few green hexagonal blades of what I presume is some kind of species of Mica, but it's hard to say for sure. A really interesting, unique and attractive example of these classic crystals from Pech. Specimen weight is 196.81 grams. Priced in the inventory at $1,500.
