Item Description

For a few decades now, Afghanistan has been the source of some of the best quality examples of crystallized, gem quality Spodumene in the world. I think most people are familiar with the famous pink Kunzite crystals from Afghanistan, but the species is actually found in several colors from various localities in Kunar, Laghman and Nuristan. This piece is a very well-formed, GEM quality, light yellow-green colored, prismatic, crystal of Triphane Spodumene, with no matrix. The crystal is in great condition all around, as one end has a slightly etched / striated "sword"-shaped termination, and the bottom has been re-crystallized ("re-healed") where it detached from the pocket wall. The crystal is essentially a complete "floater", as it's crystallized all around with no real damage or point of attachment. Very attractive and certainly worth owning if you're a fan of gem crystals, or minerals from Afghanistan. Specimen weight is 96.0 grams. Valued $1,500.
