Spodumene (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

A lovely single crystal of greenish Spodumene. The piece is very well-formed, with sharp crystal faces and excellent gemminess. The label states that one of the faces near the termination is actually polished, and you can see that it has a different luster than the rest of the faces, so please keep this in mind when bidding. This was a common practice among dealers from Pakistan and Afghanistan in the early days of selling to the western market, until they learned that it wasn't desirable for collector. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
