Item Description

A lovely, doubly-terminated prism of light greenish-yellow Spodumene from this well-known area in Afghanistan. The piece is a highly etched a complete "floater", with multiple "teeth"-like terminations on each end. Good gem crystals of Spodumene are only found in three places in the world with any frequency: Afghanistan, Brazil and San Diego County, California. Very little if anything comes out of California these days and the Brazilian material is on the decline in terms of production, so the only place where one can buy good gem Spodumenes these days is Afghanistan. A good sized and showy crystal of this classic material. Weight is 114.8 grams.
