Spinel with Norbergite and Scapolite

Big dramatic Spinel crystals like this in colorful combination with Chondrodite and Scapolite are rare from the Koksha Valley. This attractive piece features large, well-formed, lustrous black Spinel crystals from 0.4 o 3.6 cm across along with colorful, reddish Chondrodite crystals ranging from 3 to 8 mm in a pale yellowish white matrix of Calcite. The glossy Spinels are well formed varying between equant octahedrons, some with modifications, to tabular crystals displaying "Spinel law twins". Many of the waxy lustered Norbergite crystals on this piece are unusually well-formed as equant to slightly elongate red-brown crystals that are found in the Calcite between the Spinel crystals. A colorful and contrasting combination specimen of this size with sharp crystals and richness of crystals of both species is rare. Old material from the early 2000s.
