Item Description
A REMARKABLY hard to find specimen of black Spinel (Pleonaste) from the Toal della Fassaite in the Monzoni Mountains of Italy. Several very lustrous, well-formed, jet-black octahedral crystals of Spinel measuring up to 3 mm are sitting in / on massive green-grey colored "Fassaite" (a variety of Augite) matrix. This is the first specimen of this material that we've ever had to offer, and if you collect minerals of Italy or worldwide Spinels, it's a MUST HAVE as you may never seen another one on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#3439). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
