Item Description
A very aesthetic and unusual crystalllized silver from Copper Country. The sculptural, arborescent specimen is composed of very well-formed spinel-twins with a bright, but unusual golden-silvery patina and nubby appearance. Some of the spinels are quite long, up to 2.4 cm and some have a herringbone pattern. This striking piece has a very biomorphic or anthropomorphic look, depending on the orientation. One look is a dancing biomorphic shape: one foot on the ground with bent leg; one leg kicking upward; a tail on the back; and two opposing outstretched arms below the head. The other view looks like a stylized woman dancer with a long dress with sleeves. There are striking frills on the skirt and sleeves. The dancer wears a mask with an elaborate headdress. This is classic, old-time and excellent crystallized silver from this famed locale, having a beautiful patina and artistic form. Valued at $1950.
