Item Description
An incredibly sculptural silver specimen from the famous Quincy Mine, and out of an exchange with the Seaman Museum of Michigan. This spinel-twinned cutie looks just like an Eocene Green River, Wyoming fossilized fish with the head, dorsal and ventral fins and tail! All of the spines and bones are preserved. The long, grooved, spinel-twin of the body is striking, as are the fins and tail. Of note, are the two tiny sharp copper crystals, one attached to a fin and the other on the tail. The patina/luster is moderate, but really is secondary to the amazing, complex form of the two-sided piece. Classic and exceptional old material, of a style raely seen, this is a superb large miniature. Ex Pollard Collection of Hancock, Michigan with a 1936 date on the label. Valued at $1250-1500.
