RARE style galena from the historic Pb-Ag Neudorf mining area, which surely must be the most famous sulfide locality in old Europe. This classic locale has produced world-class galena, siderite and bournonite specimens. The mines closed in 1903. A myriad of VERY RARE flattened spinel-twinned galena crystals compose the sculptural specimen of intergrown lustrous, metallic-gray highly modified cuboctahedrons. Neudorf is famed for super-sharp cuboctahedrons. Scattered tiny sharp brassy Marcasite crystals are an EXTREMELY RARE accessory. Bright light reveals the nice subtle iridescence to the galena, adding pizzazz. From the Kay Robertson Collection # 3254 and acquired from prominent New Jersey mineral dealer, John Albanese in the 1960s. Rare, perhaps UNIQUE Neudorf combination galena with marcasite! Valued at $2000 but it is hard to say as none have been on market in so long. This is actually a very important historic specimen. An amazing specimen for the collector who knows where this fits into a German suite, and almsot never seen.
